Iron Heart 9oz Selvedge Indigo Check Work Shirt Flannel - Black

Iron Heart’s 9oz selvedge flannel work shirt is a lighter-weight alternative to their signature Ultra Heavy Flannel. These unbrushed shirts use a mixture of rope dyeing and sulphur dyeing techniques to create a check pattern that will fade at different speeds and to different degrees with wear.

ORIGIN: Made in Japan

Iron Heart’s 9oz selvedge flannels get their unique colours through a blend of dyeing processes. The darkest yarns in the pattern are indigo-dyed, while the lighter shades are sulphur cheese-dyed. This creates a flannel with deep, nuanced shades of indigo that will fade naturally over time.

The check pattern itself is a labour of love. It’s slowly woven on the only four shuttle looms in Japan capable of producing this intricate design. The slower weave also imparts greater heft and texture. The shirts are left unbrushed for a touch more structure while keeping things breathable.

Iron Heart’s take on the classic work shirt silhouette has a bit more room through the body than their Western styles, providing a more regular yet still flattering fit. Finished with all the elevated details we’ve come to expect from Iron Heart—selvedge-cut placket and cuffs, single- and double-needle stitch construction, and felled internal seams.

Please Note: Iron Heart refers to this plaid as a “black check” to differentiate this colorway from their pure indigo shirts. The dominant colour here is a deep indigo, which will gradually lighten with wear and washing.

Lay flat with the top waist band evenly flat on the back waist band.
Measure from one side to the other keeping the jean flat & double the measurement.

  • Measure 3 inches or 7.5cm from the crotch stitch.
Measure from side to side flat across the jean at this point.

Stage 3: Front rise

Stage 4: Back rise

  • Measure from crotch seam to top of the back of the jean.

Stage 5: Thigh

Stage 6: Knee

  • Lay flat and measure 13” or 33cm from crotch down inside seam of jeans
From here measure from one side of the jean to the other.

Stage 7: hem width/leg opening
