FACTORY900 is a Japanese eyewear brand rooted in over 80 years of craftsmanship. Launched in 2000 by designer Yoshinori Aoyama, it is the in-house label of AOYAMA Optical Co., a third-generation factory based in Fukui — Japan’s eyewear capital. The name “900” comes from the factory’s official registration number.
Drawing from heritage techniques passed down through designer Aoyama’s family, FACTORY900 takes a bold, forward-looking approach to frame design. Each pair is crafted entirely in-house, from concept to finish, using proprietary tools and traditional methods honed over decades. The result is a collection of sculptural, hand-carved acetate frames that blend technical precision with a striking, avant-garde aesthetic.
FACTORY900’s ties to the Sabae region (where the majority of Japan’s eyewear is produced) ensure both access to skilled artisans and an uncompromising standard of quality. From everyday silhouettes with bold acetate rims to organically shaped statement pieces that play with light and reflection, each design is made to stand apart.
