Shoes Like Pottery gain their name through the vulcanising – or ka-ryu – process used on each of their shoes. Kiln-firing the rubber outsoles on each pair allows the rubber to regain its natural elasticity, resulting in highly flexible, soft and durable footwear.
Hand-sewn and assembled in Kurume, Japan, each pair is stamped with a bright-blue rubber seal bearing the brand logo, the uchide no kozuchi – a magical mallet believed to ‘tap-out’ the wishes of its bearer. Matching this stamp, each pair comes with a bright blue sole, giving a burst of colour to each step.
