Brimming with iconography, these super limited, hand-made Japanese selvedge denim jeans are a tribute to Samurai's fastidious attention to detail and feature numerous nods to history. The Shinsengumi were a hand-picked force trained in swordsmanship and martial arts who were tasked with the defence of Kyoto during the Edo era. The battle of Goryokaku resulted in the end of the feudal era of Japanese history. The three-coloured selvedge ID references the colours of the Shinsengumi uniform. The top iron button is gold coloured, referencing the rising sun and the dawning of a new era. The next three buttons are silver coloured "Sakura" button as Goryokaku is well known for its sakura or cherry blossom which represents optimism and a time of renewal. Next is the natural iron "Taiko" button for Toshizo Hizikata, the deputy head of Shinsengumi who died in the battle of Goryokaku and is believed to be buried there under a sakura tree. Even the woven Syogyomujo text in the pocket bags translates to "everything including myself is constantly changing". Fascinating and evocative stuff. Only fitting for a fascinating and evocative denim.

Elliot wears size 31w jeans. He is 185cm tall and weighs 74kg / 6ft 1" and 163 lbs.

Important: The best way to determine the size you need is to measure a similar item you already own and compare with the actual sizing as per the table below. Do not go by tagsize alone. After an initial soak this jean will shrink 1" in the waist, 0.5" in the thigh, and 2" in the inseam. The waist will stretch back out 1" with wear.
